Reporting to the Executive Director, the Programming Director leads the Quickdraw Animation Society in all programming initiatives, including special events, screenings, class and workshop coordination, and communication initiatives. This is a 30 hour per week position.

Key focus areas include:

PROGRAMMING

  • Artistic and logistical direction of the GIRAF Festival of Independent Animation, in cooperation with the Executive and Production Directors
  • Programming and coordination of special events, screenings, and visiting artists
  • Coordination of co-presentations and community partnerships
  • Coordination of educational activities including courses, workshops, and visiting artists

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Development and design of communications materials, including promotional material, newsletters and social media
  • Promotion of Quickdraw events, including press releases and dissemination of promotional materials
  • Communication with members and the public, including newsletters, online communications, and public speaking (such as before screenings)
  • Contributing to Quickdraw’s online presence (through blogging, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Maintaining positive relationships with the membership, wider community, and public at large

ADMINISTRATION

  • Assisting with preparation of grants and grant reporting as needed
  • Providing support for Quickdraw youth and adult classes (including preparing and administering class evaluations, and providing staff with logistical and professional feedback and supports)
  • Supporting day-to-day activities including public and membership needs (such as tours and telephone inquiries)
  • Creating and managing budgets, invoices, and artist payments as needed
  • Managing bookings of courses, workshops, and new memberships
  • Volunteer coordination as needed
  • Assisting with hiring and management of seasonal staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background in curation, event management, or arts administration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary

ASSETS

  • Knowledge of artist-run culture and media arts
  • Knowledge of and passion for Canadian and international independent animation communities
  • Demonstrated design ability (preferably in the form of a design portfolio)
  • Demonstrated web-administration ability
  • Minimum two years related experience

Compensation for this 30 hour/week position is $31,000 annually and includes benefits
