Git Gob , Philip Eddolls, provided by the National Film Board of Canada

The NFB’s HotHouse program is a marvel of condensed creativity, helping emerging animators (including a handful of QAS members) to hone their skills and find their voices. A lot of gems have been crystallized by the program’s creative pressure, but Philip Eddolls’ Git Gob is surely one of the finest.

There’s only so much you can say about a minute-long short, and less that wouldn’t be improved by just letting the film speak for itself. Suffice it to say, wisdom can often be found in absurdity, and Eddolls’ confidence in cutting this short to its bare essentials—along with the impeccable timing of the editing—is enough to make this an instant classic. A tiny film of cosmic significance.
