Quickdraw serves as a dynamic production and education facility, dedicated to providing artists with access to equipment, resources, and training to create their own animated productions.

To register for our courses, fill out an online form, call, or visit us. Courses and workshops have limited enrollment, and may be cancelled prior to start date if enrollment is low. Quickdraw accepts payment for courses through Paypal, cash, or cheque.

ANIMATION FUNDAMENTALS (In-Person)

An introduction to the basics of animation! Including an overview of various 2D approaches and styles, animation movement techniques, and a history of animation all through under camera animation technique. Students will also learn the basics of using animation software, creating high quality files, and proper pre-production techniques.

3D Animation (Online)

Come learn Blender! It’s a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software that artists are using to create incredible films and media art! In this course, participants will learn the basics of Blender while learning how to rig and animate. This is a great introductory course to 3D animation!

Drawing for Animation (Online)

The famous animator, Richard Williams, said “Good drawing is not copying the surface. It has to do with understanding and expression. We don’t want to learn to draw just to end up being imprisoned in showing off our knowledge of joints and muscles. We want to get the kind of reality that a camera can’t get. We want to accentuate and suppress aspects of the model’s character to make it more vivid.” In this course, you’ll learn to professionally design your characters in a way that gives them real… well… “character”. Learn how shapes and colours help express different personas and emotions. You’ll study some life drawing, perspective, environmental design, and the worx and come out of the course with a couple fully fledged characters and environments that you can take forward into your future animating projects!

Intro to ToonBoom Harmony (Online)

ToonBoom Harmony is a professional 2D animating software used globally in the Animation Industry. In this course, you’ll be introduced to the platform and learn your way around the program while creating multiple short projects to showcase your skills. Some animation fundamentals are required.

Take a step further into the vastness of animation! This course focuses on intermediate techniques of animation such us rotoscoping, walk cycles, character animation, mouth sync, cinematic language, sound design, compositing and more. Up your skills and then put it to use in a narrative of your own creation. Animations Fundamentals is highly recommended.

**CANCELLATION POLICY**

We appreciate that people’s plans and circumstances can change, and that sometimes it will be necessary to cancel your registration in a course. However, since our classes are so small, last-minute cancellations can be very difficult for us to deal with—we need time to make sure that we can reach out to members on the waiting lists for the classes, and to be sure that we have the minimum enrolment we need to run each class.

Students will receive a full refund on fees paid for courses or camps that are cancelled at least two weeks in advance of the first day of class. If a course or camp is cancelled within two weeks of the first day of class, Quickdraw will retain a processing fee of 25% of the full cost of the course. If a course or camp is cancelled after the first day of class, Quickdraw will retain a processing fee of 50% of the full cost of the course, or a pro-rated amount based on the number of classes already completed if the course is more than half finished. That said, please let us know if there are any circumstances we should know about in working out a refund.
