The QuickTrack Initiative was a pilot program intended to carry emerging animators to the next level of their practice. Over a 3 month period (July – Sept 2011), 4 emerging professional animators were paid to work with a Producer (Michael Welchman), and Mentor(Richard Reeves), to undertake production training to create a short film. QuickTrack mimicked a similar program by the NFB called Hothouse – information for this program, and past films can be found here (http://films.nfb.ca/hothouse).

Short animations were shown as looping installations, designed to be projected GIANT on the sides of buildings in Calgary. The films premiered at the seventh annual GIRAF Animation Festival, as part of the 2011 festival’s “Animated City” component, November 2 – 6th, 2011.
