On the last Friday of every month for the next few months, the Quickdraw Animation Society will be releasing a DIY Zine created by a Quickdraw member. This zine will be showcased via social media and as a printable version that you can download off our website. Our main objective with this project is to help promote creators working on animation from the comfort of their own home while still connecting the YYC animation community through the sharing of knowledge.

How to print and fold your zine!

Once you have downloaded the pdf, you’ll need to print it out. You’ll want to make sure that you adjust the margins so that the paper reaches the very edge of the page. Otherwise the page lines might not line up when you fold it.

After you’ve printed your zine, follow the instructions below.

Step 1

Fold your page in half width-wise.

Step 2

Unfold your page and fold it in half lengthwise.

Step 3

Unfold your page and fold the short edges into the center.

Step 4

Unfold your page again. You should have 8 rectangle outlines. Fold your page in half again width-wise.

Step 5

Locate the folded edge. There should be a line running from the folded edge to the open edge. Cut only until you reach the intersection of two folded lines in the center of the page.

Step 6

Unfold your page and fold it in half lengthwise again. You should have a diamond-shaped opening where the cut is. Grab hold of either end of the folded paper and push them together to make an “X” shape.

Step 7

Find the first page and fold it so that the first page is at the front.
